EVOA – BIRDWATCHING AND VISITORS’ CENTRE

Situated in the heart of the most important wetland in Portugal, the Tagus Estuary Nature Reserve, the Birdwatching and Visitors’ Centre (EVOA) allows visitors to get to know and enjoy the unique countryside of the flatlands and the Tagus estuary.

The Interpretation Centre invites visitors to visit the EVOA exhibition, where the world meets the Tagus, and to participate in various birdwatching activities.

But the adventure begins when first you go into the Lezíria Sul of Vila Franca de Xira and experience the scenery and the juxtaposition of the traditional and the innovative. Interest increases on seeing the number of species that feed on or shelter in the ditches, the farmland and the pasture land of the flatland, welcoming all who cross this fascinating space.
