The windmill that stands here now, one of the largest of its kind in the region, was built at the beginning of the 20th century, but the panoramic view is timeless. Its magnificent position made it the perfect site for an advance post that overlooked the terrain around Santo Quintino, the valley next to Sobral de Monte Agraço, the river Tagus (at Carregado, Vila Franca and Alhandra) and other forts along the 1st Line, including Caneira, Paço, Moinho Céu and Carvalha.
