The Church of Our Lady of Salvation rises in the centre of the village, in the old part. After the reconquer of the village by D. Afonso Henriques, the Order of Santiago built or rebuilt the church, then belonging to the royal patronage and donated to the prior of the Convent of St. Vincent de Fora.
In the XIII century, D. Sancho I donated it to the Order of Santiago, being integrated in the bishopric of Lisbon with the churches of Óbidos.
