Quinta de Monfalim

With a history dating back to 1381, this was one of the major agricultural houses in the region for many years. It also belonged to the family of writer, Irene Lisboa, who spent holidays here and who describes the house in her autobiographical work, “Começa uma Vida” (“A Life Begins”). Today, the buildings have been restored and the Quinta offers accommodation and organises events.

It is in the village of Monfalim, between Sobral de Monte Agraço and Arruda dos Vinhos; 35 kms from the outskirts of Lisbon; 1 km from the Church of S. Quintino and 2 km from the most imposing fort on the Lines – Fort Alqueidão.
