FANHÕES TOWN CHURCH, SÃO SATURNINO

Built in 1575, this church was restored in 1796, after the Lisbon earthquake. According to legend, its patron saint protects infants from childhood diseases. Inside, there is a Joanine choir, a baptismal font, a painting of St Saturnino attributed to Pedro Alexandrino and 16th and 17th century panels of hand painted tiles. On the exterior wall, the ancient sundial reminds us of other ways of measuring time.
