It was held on October 20th the historical re-enactment “Chronicle of an (almost) battle”, integrated into National Day of the Lines of Torres Vedras commemorations.
Between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., the Alqueidão Fort, in Sobral de Monte Agraço, was the scene of several re-enactments: the memorandum written by Wellington and sent to his main engineer, Richard Fletcher, on October 20th 1809, in which he exposed his defensive strategy and ordered the construction of three fortified lines in north of Lisbon; the construction of the Lines of Torres Vedras representing the population work and the military action that took place in Sobral de Monte Agraço, Dois Portos and Seramena combats between 12 and 14 October 1810.
The event was attended by historical recreation groups: Asociación Cultural de Recreaciones El Castillete Puntales Cádiz, Asociación de Infantería Británica Reg. 28th North Gloucestershire de Arroyomolinos, Batalhão de Artilharia de Sobral, Grupo de Reconstituição Histórica do Município de Almeida, Grupo de Recriação Histórica da Associação para a Memória da Batalha do Vimeiro e Guerrilha de Montagraço e com o apoio da Associação de Cultura e Recreio 13 de Setembro de 1913 e da Associação Napoleónica Portuguesa.
Also participated, Mafra’s civilians group and Passado Vivo, on the Historical Route of the Lines of Torres Vedras organization – Association for the Tourism and Heritage Development of the Lines of Torres Vedras.
In the morning, the Victory March with the flags hoisted in Sobral de Monte Agraço ran, in others municipalities of the Historical Route of the Lines of Torres Vedras (Arruda dos Vinhos, Loures, Mafra, Torres Vedras and Vila Franca de Xira), a diversified activities program aimed to public in general and to families, which reconciled culture and history with relaxation and leisure experiences, which included horseback riding, equestrian baptisms, geocaching, workshops, guided tours, dinners with history, wine tastings and shows, with the participation of Interpretation Centres of the Lines of Torres Vedras and partners like Câmara dos Ofícios, Geocacherzone, Luís Rato e Zé Espiga, Monte do Roseiral, Morgado Lusitano, Parque Aventuras Sniper e Quinta da Azinheira.
The initiative “In the Table with Generals” had several adherent restaurants which offered the possibility to experience several dishes of this epoch, such as Adega do Convento, Adega do Miguel, Adivinha Pitoresca, Barrete Saloio, Brasão, Cantinho do Páteo, Casa dos Caracóis, Grande Escolha – Dolce Campo Real Lisboa, João da Vila Velha, Moinho do Paúl, Momentvm Lifestyle, Napoleão Taberna and Tapas Bar, Patanisca, Paris, Retiro do Raposo, Retiro do Volante, Roots, Sete Sóis and Valverde.
